Silver Gold Ombre Whiting & Davis Mesh Bag
Utterly exquisite authentic vintage Whiting & Davis 1930’s art deco silver mesh bag, with a fabulous pale gold ombre effect on the front. Gorgeous pave-set paste rhinestone clasp.
This early-mid twentieth century bag is in lovely condition. The external silver mesh has a wonderful shimmer and shine.
There is a wonderful ombre effect on the front of this purse, as the mesh goes from pale gold to silver in a uniform fade down the front. I have no idea whether this was an intentional design process, or whether the mesh has aged to create this effect, but either way, it is so beautiful, and so symmetrical that it creates the most gorgeous design. This makes this purse an exceptional find, as I have never seen another one with this effect. It would be perfect as a complement to an oyster or champagne dress, or for a silver/gold metallic theme.
The interior lining has some make-up staining but is otherwise in good condition and firmly attached to the frame. It has a lovely antique silver chain handle. It has the Whiting & Davis stamp on the inner frame and on the interior fabric label.. This beautiful piece has obviously been loved and well cared for over the years.
Measuring 5.5 inch x 4.75 inch, this lovely wristlet bag is delicate but roomy enough for your essentials – lipstick, powder, etc.
This is a truly gorgeous vintage purse. These Whiting & Davis mesh bags are highly collectible and becoming harder and harder to find, particularly in such lovely vintage condition.
